CHILDREN

WE LOVE TO WELCOME YOUR

CHILDREN ON SUNDAY MORNINGS.

Children's Church at Westminster offers a variety of ways for children (Kindergarten to Grade 5) to practice their spirituality and to grow in faith. Children are invited to participate in activities to learn more about God, the stories of our faith, and how to make choices to live with respect in Creation.

The Children's Church team uses several resources including "Picture the Bible" and make the conversation and activities inclusive and comfortable for children of all learning abilities.

The quiet activity table at the back of the sanctuary is for children and their families. Stop there before worship starts, stay at the table during worship, or take the activity back to where your family is sitting.

We are a team of ten and we work in pairs. For more information please contact: Cheryl Curtis, Children's Church Coordinator (volunteer), cacurtis@bell.net, 519--942-7155

The goals of Children’s Church are to assist children and youth to:

  • Learn the language and stories of the Christian faith – we focus on Bible stories and learning about the sacraments of baptism and communion (believing)

  • Explore the meaning of faith and life experiences – we engage the children in meaning making conversations based on the stories of our faith (believing)

  • Be equipped to make ethical choices – we invite the children to apply the stories of our faith to their life and their choices (behaving)

  • Be a caring community of children that shares their love and gifts intergenerationally, within Westminster, and in the world (belonging)

Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.”

– 1 Timothy 4:12
