Minister: Reverend Sandra McLauchlan-Abuja
Director of Music: Nancy Sicsic

We thank you for considering the historic Westminster United Church (1879) in Orangeville, Ontario as the location for your wedding.

This is a very special day in your life as you make your marriage covenant before God, family and friends. A marriage covenant is intended to join you in a relationship so intimate and personal that it will change your whole being. As a congregation and staff, we are happy to help to make this day extra special.

We feel that it is important to…

  • Help you prepare for your new life together
  • Help you to understand the significance of the Christian Marriage Ceremony and the value of participating in a community of faith

Celebration of Life

The funeral or memorial or celebration of life service may be held in the church sanctuary or another location of your choosing. The seating capacity of our sanctuary is about 280 seats. Our minister will meet with you to create a sacred experience that honors, celebrates and remembers the life of your loved one. We will also assist you in choosing music that is appropriate and significant for your family. Our Musical Director will help guide you in this area. Pictures and mementos may also be displayed in the sanctuary and/or the hall.

Memorial Services/Funerals

Westminster United Church, as a welcoming and inclusive church, is available to any family requiring assistance during a time of bereavement, including members of Westminster United Church, their extended families and members of the wider community. A funeral service conducted by the minister will be in the tradition of the United Church of Canada. However, ministry personnel will consider special requests for the service to include other content or music.

When a request to conduct a funeral or memorial service is received, the minister will arrange to meet with the family to discuss details of the service. At that time, information can be gathered to prepare prayers, music and scripture selections and the minister and the family together can discuss how the remembrances and/or eulogy will take place.

To obtain further information on the services, reception and fees, please contact the church office at (519)941-0381.

2017-18 Memorial Service Rates: $565 (includes Sanctuary Rental, Technical Support, Custodial Fee, Minister Fee, Administration and Printed Programs).

With the renovation of the Sanctuary in 2017, Westminster United Church offers renters a state-of-the art, comfortable concert venue with a flexible stage and seating for 280 people. Centrally located in beautiful downtown Orangeville, this incredibly airy and beautiful space also offers superior acoustics highlighted by a cathedral ceiling designed and built in 1879.

The Orangeville Jazz Society (OJS) would like to thank Westminster United for a most successful evening. Much of our musical success can be attributed to the wonderful venue we played in. The sound was fantastic, the sight lines unobstructed, the building aesthetically pleasing and the sanctuary space ethereal.

The human side, however, was where Westminster really shone, Wendy, Bob, and Jane (to mention only a few) provided over the top support to help this event be the intended showcase for jazz music. Communication was clear, contact was easily available and requests accommodated with an empathetic touch.

As a result the Orangeville District Secondary School musicians played well beyond potential, while the OJS musicians demonstrated a level of proficiency typically found only in celebrated concert halls.

Thank you and hopefully we can visit again.

Bob, Wendy, Aidan and Jane,

Thank you all so much for making our event a big success! Jane and Aidan were so thorough and helpful – especially with a couple last minute requests I made that they weren’t expecting.

Everyone was in awe of the beautiful renovation, especially Terry (O’Reilly). All of the planning and advice was perfect, too.

You have a great team there. I’d recommend you as a venue in a heartbeat.
